Marshall McLuhan’s book Understanding Media and The Bias of Communication by Harold Innis describe the fundaments of early communications theory. They are not the only important books about communications theory from that era. They were coffee table books in my home when I was in High School, I read them at that time and they inform my ideas about media.

I am currently re-reading them so that I can write a summary of them here. My intent is to provide basic theory for those interested in serious discussion.
